Former stylist Jessie Hill presents a unique aesthetic with each collection. Drawing on a dark yet feminine theme, her beautifully detailed collections are truly a metaphor for herself.

Beat Poet is a Sydney label that produces biannual collections of cold, reductionist menswear. The overall look is one of blank elegance. The label caters for those who share an eye for subtle detail and sharp proportions. The Beat Poet silhouette is based on simple geometry and clothes that fit the form.
The label tends to be future-focused rather than designing for the moment. That said, inspiration is drawn from the romance and decadence of the past, especially the history and evolution of subculture. There is also a tendency to pare down and let the garments proportions do the talking. The label has no interest in the concept of luxury as there is a shared belief that good design shouldn't demand a premium. Beat Poet tends to take a more utilitarian approach to menswear.
AND THE COLLECTION:
'Deserts conquered from chaos and nothing, the Darkness receding on the limits of the horizon.'
The Desert and Fog collection is based on the destruction of the sun and is inspired by the early films of Luc Besson, especially the post-apocalyptic vision of 'Le Dernier Combat'. The futurist Opera 'Victory over the Sun' is also a major influence.
The key pieces include a black S.A.F. shirt-jacket with tail-coat vents, solar-panel jewellery, leather and canvas overnight bags, and a double-layered long-sleeve T-shirt featuring a print mutated from the NASA Voyager plaque.
